I searched for my Shangri-La
O'er mountain, valley and plain.
From the Pacific to the Atlantic,
and then back home again.
-
I found my bit of Heaven,
a place to live and work and play,
in the northwest corner
of the good old USA.
-
With unpolluted rivers,
and air that can't be seen.
Mountains, lakes and desert,
and valleys, lush and green.
-
It's a land of recreation.
You may hunt or fish or ski,
water, cross country or downhill,
whichever your choice may be.
-
Wheat, potatoes and sugar beets,
apples, cherries and peaches,
cattle, sheep and venison,
and clams from the ocean beaches.
-
Atomic energy, timber, farming
and hydroelectric power pay the bills.
An orchard worker found Clovis points,
and there's gold in them thar hills.
-
Granted, these things may all be found
in various states and places.
But no other state holds everything
that Washington State embraces.
