Ode To A Native American
-
We honor you, our ancient ancestors,
You who are one with the earth.
We, the compassionate minority
Shed bitter tears for the rape of
Your innocence . . . . . . . .
-
That which they have taken
Cannot be restored,
They have broken your hearts
but not your gentle spirit.
Your soul will continue to
soar with the wind,
And your laughter will reverberate
through the haunted trees of misery.
-
like a gentle baby's cry,
You will survive . . .
And your tortured cries will
live forever in our memories.
