Shadows (Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr.)

I was my daddie's shadow,
imitated every thing he did.
I wanted so to be like him,
but I was just a kid.
-
My daddie, he played baseball,
to me he's Superman.
I mimicked his walk and his talk,
for I was his biggest fan.
-
My daddie was my hero,
I loved to watch him play,
and imagined my small feet
would fill his shoes one day.
-
He taught me how to catch a ball,
and how to swing a bat.
I dressed up in his clothes
and wore his baseball hat.
-
When I got to the big league,
we played ion the same team,
we his back to back home runs,
and thus fulfilled my dream.
-
Now, they call me Jr.,
a shadow of my dad.
I'm thankful that he found
the time, to teach me as a lad.
-
My daddie is now coaching,
and I'm now number one,
and I'm now being shadowed,
by my own little son.
-
I wonder will he follow,
my footsteps all the way,
and will back to back home runs
be hit by us someday?
