Christmas at Apple Blossom

Every year, the first of May,
with apple trees in bloom,
Wenatchee hosts a celebration
filling every motel room.

Christmas is in December
when the snow is on the ground,
but a family from Seattle
turned the calendar around.

When they came for Apple Blossom
they would bring a Christmas tree.
It stood, decorated, in the window
for the Cruisers all to see.

It seems they found it difficult
to cross the mountains in the snow,
so, in May they had their Christmas,
and all their presents they'd bestow.

They would join the Cruisers,
one of them dressed like Santa Claus.
They combined the seasons,
and I give them my applause.

They attracted much attention
with their Christmas tree in May,
but I think the Christmas Spirit
is needed each and every day.
