Gather 'round my little ones
I've a story I must tell
all about the Bomber wing
and the way it cast a spell.
-
The Bomber crashed in forty-four
bringing death to all it's crew
and scattering the pieces
as a crash can sometimes do.
-
The snow god's took a liking
to the Bomber's broken wing
and heaped the snow upon it
from fall 'til late in spring.
-
The news spread to the skiers
about Mission's powder snow.
They came by tens of thousands
and they helpd the legend grow.
-
Then, man in all his wisdom
chose to move the Bomber wing.
The snow god's became angry
and snow they'd no more bring.
-
Hard times came to Mission Ridge
one year, two years, three years, four
Was there truth to that legend?
Should they move the wing once more?
-
Would the snow god's forgive them?
Could they perhaps make amends?
"Let's return the Bomber wing
and see if this dry spell ends."
-
There was a celebration
and they heard the snow god's sing.
It snowed, then it snowed some more
from fall 'til late in spring.
-
The Bomber wing had come home
to it's chosen place of rest
and this appeased the snow god's
who, with snow the mountain blessed.
The snow god's now were happy
things were now as they should be.
They heeaped snow upon the Ridge
bringing joy to those who ski.
