The Fall of Eden

My peaceful Little Eden,
the Serpent has invaded.
In sex and drugs and violence,
we now are inundated.
-
Where has gone the innocence
that so fondly I recall?
The loving and the caring,
an umbrella over all.
-
It was not so long ago,
terror never reared it's head.
We, in peace went through the day,
sleeping safely in our bed.
-
Then something insidious
crept into our little town,
infecting all our children,
turning our lives upside down.
-
I miss my peaceful Valley,
where I walked alone at night,
slept secure with unlocked doors,
no fear, no panic, no fright.
-
Return to me the Eden
which I treasured in my youth,
where peace and integrity
reigned with trust, honor and truth.
