I always knew I loved you,
just how much I did not know.
But lately, I've seen you hurting,
suffering hardship, pain and woe.
-
Four years ago you were attacked
by some vicious, hateful men.
You didn't hide or lick your wounds,
no, you held your ground, and then - -
-
Singled handed, you sought them out
and dragged them from their hole.
You showed them you wouldn't be beaten down
by men who had no soul.
-
I was so very proud of you,
of your courage and your might.
And I became more aware of my love
for my valiant, shining knight.
-
Now. this attack from the sea
which left you wet, wounded and bruised.
And, again you faced your tormentors,
as their insult you refused.
-
Be it pestilence, fire or famine,
you are the first to lend a hand,
bringing order out of chaos,
and helping the weak to stand.
-
America, I love you
from the bottom of my heart.
No matter the devastation and ruin,
you roll up your sleeves and do your part.
-
Whene'er I see your banner wave
my soul swells with deepest pride.
I know you'll ne'er be defeated
for you have honor and glory on your side.
