With my eyes I see . . . you, slumped over in your chair,
Newspaper in disarray, a snore escapes your lips.
With my heart I see . . . you, so virile on your skis,
shushing down the slopes, your laughter fills the air.
-
With my eyes I see . . . the falter in your step,
your lack of appetite and how easily you tire.
With my heart I see . . .the spring with which you walk,
your lust for food and life, your boundless energy.
-
With my eyes I see . . . the hollow in your cheek,
your clouded eyes and sallow, faded complexion.
With my heart I see . . . your radiant smile,
the sparkle in your eye, the dimple in your chin.
-
Demons stole your zest for life, one by one they wore you down,
Cancer . . . Prostitus . . . Diabetes eroded your vitality.
In my heart you'll ever be Strong and vital as before,
filled with love, joy and laughter, my life . . . my love . . . my all.
