"Hello, Mr. Coyote, how do you fare,
sitting and reading on the museum staair?
You are so handsome ~~ really, quite dapper,
completely absorbed in your candy wrapper."
-
"Your taste in reading, I find quite strange.
Why not try poetry, just for a change?
I happen to have here a fine magazine,
a showcase for poets, the best ever seen."
-
"My Portals, with you, I'd happily share
if I may join you, there on the stair.
I long have admired you from afar,
as, daily, I drive by in my car."
-
"So often I've wanted to stop for a chat
and, I must confess, give you a pat.
Do you, like my dog, enjoy being petted?
And, for a treat, is your appetite whetted?"
-
"Or, are you content just to sit here alone,
reading your wrapper on a stair made of stone?
Am I intruding on your daily routine?
Am I forcing on you, my magazine?"
-
"Oh, no Mrs. Dillon, I've enjoyed our visit,
and I find your Portals to be most exquisite.
Please, do stop again when e'er you are free,
you may scratch my ears ~~ and we'll read poetry!"
