Let The Story Be Told

I attended a unique ceremony,
on January 14, of this year,
Where a new book was revealed,
that could not be concealed;
from a world who sought harmony!
-
This book is a marvelous concept,
of a town . . . a young man. . . history.
About the Navy, a ship . . . about kids and friendship,
and a community that never forgets!
-
This book was presented proudly,
To Jerry Johnston, a Rear Admiral;
Representing DC . . . The Medical Community
Which provides medical care while at sea.
-
You could tell he was deeply touched,
As he held it , his pride shone 'round him,
At the Patriotism . . .Shown without schism,
by theses boys who had given so much.
-
In a town of less than nine thousand,
Three young men had given their all,
That others might be . . . Eternally free,
due to heroic efforts so grand.
-
Samuel Sampler, Nelson Brittin, Ed Benfold,
Audubon will always remember!
Holding you in our heart . . .Sets this borough apart;
And the book lets the story be told.
